The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Recap of Thursday, April 21, 2022
In Susan’s absence, Heath successfully “auditioned” as president today, drawing rave reviews! He led us in the Pledge of Allegiance, then called on George for the 4-Way Test. Ray provided a heartfelt invocation.

Emily paid a scooter fine, and Kerry threw in a twenty for her new-car fine; it’s a Bronco. Melanie is very pleased that OGT Beanery opens this weekend. Tracy noted niece Caroline had Covid and niece Chloe is coming home from Utah. Heath has had much help from family at the three inns; he’s vagabonding from one to the other as beds become available during the updating. Pete thanked his muse, Elizabeth Ford, for the inspiration behind his latest…

Into Spring we most certainly Splash,
Turning in those bottles and cans for cash,
At a THOUSAND dollars we’ll very soon arrive
Because now we stand at Nine Eight-Seven and Fifty -Five

George drew the 7 of hearts and the 9 of clubs. Better luck next time!

In club news…

Tracy reported several open slots in the sign-up to sell bread Saturday at Splash into Spring. Please contact Tracy if you wish to help. You also can join in the fun to have dinner and pick up bread at When Pigs Fly in Kittery tomorrow evening,

If you have not rsvp’d to Erin for the 50th Anniversary Celebration on May 19, please do so asap. Also, Heath is looking to each of us to invite a prospective new member to the event.

Carol has generously expressed a willingness to post a monthly Ogunquit Rotary News Update in The Weekly Sentinel (as available space allows.) Thank you, Carol! Your club now has an ad hoc committee creating informational materials for both prospective members and new members. The proposed by laws revision could not be voted on today as we did not have a quorum – only 13 members were in attendance. Cross your fingers that it can happen at the May 5 meeting. Because Jonathan’s cannot host our June 2nd meeting, we are shifting the calendar a bit. We will not meet on June 2; instead, we will celebrate this year’s changeover on June 9 at 5:00 pm at Bob and Cheryl Cruickshank’s oceanfront lawn! More details to come.

Tracy exhibited this year’s snazzy new 2 Cents Sale raffle tickets. All members will sell at least 20 tickets at $5 each. A superb ticket-selling location is out front of Cricket’s Corner Beach & Toy the week before the main event. Please also start thinking about the theme for your gift basket (suggested value $25 - $50.) Mark your calendars for set-up at the Dunaway the afternoon of Wednesday, July 20. Then its all-hands-on-deck the evening of the 21st!

Matt Buttrick told us that Chief of Police Pat Arnaudin is retiring next Thursday after 41 years on the force! Stop by to offer your congratulations.

Word leaked out that Rick Barber, who attend today’s meeting, would like to submit a membership application!
