The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Recap of Friday, July 5, 2019
Having drawn the Ace of Hearts on the first try, Carol left today’s meeting $103 happier! Susan DeQauttro of Aland Realty again visited as a guest.

Ed Smith reported a record number of folks at the Fourth fireworks; also a very busy emergency services team. He also fined badge-less George. Dr. Joe sold all his 2 Cent Sale tickets at the meeting of the Biddeford-Saco Rotary club.  He also reported that around half our members contributed to the Rotary Foundation for 2018-2019 for a total of about $1,000. The fireworks and the resumption of bingo put a big smile on Elizabeth Cutler’s face! George thanked Melanie and Gail for their generous sponsorships of the 2 Cent Sale grand prize. “I rise as an advocate for Clynk; if you need a bag just raise your hand and wink!” sayeth Pete the Bagman. The account stands at $145.25. Tracy was ecstatic over the fireworks and was delighted to have lost 30 pounds. Ed Seppa thanked Pete for the new batch of attendance cards. He also cheered on the U.S. National Women’s soccer team. Melanie enjoyed hosting five of her grandchildren, ages 3 and under, at her camp. Bob enjoyed the “best ever” fireworks and praised the town’s public works folks for all their help in beautifying Rotary Park in the cove.

President Bob presented Dr. Joe Boyle with a Paul Harris Fellow +4 pin. Joe’s generosity to the Rotary Foundation over the years places him in this very special category. Congratulations!

Bob turned the floor over to Tracy who reviewed the to-do list for the 2 Cent Sale. Everyone is asked to be present at the Dunaway on Wednesday, the 17th, starting at 10:30 A.M. for set up.  Remember your gift basket and all donations. For the main event on Thursday, plan to arrive by 5 P.M. and be sure to bring all raffle ticket stubs and money. Remember to email Erin by Monday, July 15, if you wish to have a bagged lunch from Bintliff’s on the 17th.

Be on the lookout for a separate communiqué to sign up to sell raffle tickets in front of Cricket’s Corner Beach and Toy next weekend.

There will be no social meeting this week. The July 19 regular meeting is canceled as we relax following the 2 Cent Sale. Our next regular meeting will be Friday, August 2, when District Governor Andy Glaser will visit with us.
