Heath arrived at The Dunaway loaded with pizza, salad, fruit, coconut cake and coffee! He then fined Chief Ed for taking a phone call! Chief Ed offered some not-so-happy dollars with tales of arthritic and dermatological woes. Dr. Joe, Tracy, Susan, Erin and Brenda thanked Heath for arranging lunch. Emily Rumble, our speaker, expressed delight at being with us. Melanie is grinning about her upcoming trip to Aruba. Heath thanked Naomme for picking up the pizza. Chief Russ was happy about positive fire department staffing developments. Both Susan and Brenda were generally happy about everything. Erin had a fine time in Aruba. I’ll buy a raffle ticket for those who can identify the creator of the following…
So here we are together again
Hope you’re wintering well,
Especially with all this “indoor weather”
Where CLYNK and people all excel!
Joanie introduced Emily Rumble, the new co-director of RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Awards.) Emily attended RYLA 12 years ago as a high school student. She has been active in RYLA ever since. Speaking passionately about the “magic of RYLA,” she explained how the 4-day camp experience at Camp Hinds in Raymond, Maine so effectively builds team solidarity and individual confidence. Emily also is active in Rotary Club of New Voices, whose members are young professionals who have the connection of having experienced Rotary’s Youth Service Programs (like RYLA.)
Following Emily’s talk and slide show, Brenda, representing The Rotary Foundation, awarded Dr. Joe a two-ruby Paul Harris Fellow pin for having donated more than $8,000 to The Rotary Foundation! Wow!
On Saturday, February 12, a contingent of our club will be at the Wells-Ogunquit Center at Moody for a Day of Warming. Naomme, Brenda and Erin have put a great event together featuring a meatloaf (of course!) luncheon. At least seven members will perform the necessary tasks. The more the merrier! Things get going at 11:30.
