Do your feet get the care they deserve? If not, today’s meeting was one you did not want to miss! Honorary member Jyoti Goodwin-Jones and Amelia Brennick joined us to talk about Hollis Center Foot Care.
President Jim was out of town so Erin and I tried our best to fill in for him.
Ed Smith brought along a piece of history - a booklet of “invocations and limericks” compiled during the 1981-82 Rotary year by a member of the Ogunquit-Wells Rotary Club and Past District Governor Wes Haines. (In those days, the club met at the Whistling Oyster restaurant.) For the moment of gratitude, Ed read the this interestingly apropos entry:
“Rotary aims to relieve stress
so our minds are not in a mess.
We don’t have to be wealthy to be mentally healthy
And our lives can love, lift and bless.”

Dr. Joe happily reported on a great visit by a group of his Norwegian family including granddaughter Christina whom many of us met a few years ago. I expressed delight at experiencing Hello Dolly at the Ogunquit Playhouse. I also reported on a most enjoyable call with Richard Littlefield. Erin and Rick are going to watch the Sox take on the Tampa Bay Rays at Fenway on Saturday. Susan proudly announced a new professional adventure she is embarking on. Tina and family will celebrate her mother’s birthday. Pete updated the CLYNK story.

Eileen and Connie attended the ecumenical service in Saco for Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero who was killed in Biddeford by an ICE agent. Eileen described the service as “beautiful and moving.” Carol and others were happy to see Jyoti. Ed Smith visited Richard and had a great talk. Ed also noted the passing of a paramedic who served when Ed was fire chief in Ogunquit. As a volunteer at the playhouse, Ray has seen Hello Dolly “at least three times.” Kerry is ecstatic about the cooler, fresher weather we are experiencing. Barbara was pleased to meet Jyoti. She recently enjoyed various activities with family who visited.
Erin drew the queen and king of diamonds, not the ace of hearts.
In club business, Erin noted that the 2 Cent Sale would have been held on the day of this meeting. The work on the Dunaway is nearly but not fully complete right now. I reported that the club today has 30 active members and 10 honorary members. Heidi Becker regretfully resigned some time ago. Elizabeth Ford recently resigned and Brenda Cressey has transferred to the Wells Rotary club. In other club business, Eric presented the proposed fiscal year 27 budget for the club. After brief discussion, the budget was approved.
Jyoti introduced Amelia Brennick, a Certified Foot Care Nurse (CFCN). She founded and leads Hollis Center Foot Care. Jyoti provides promotional assistance. Amelia gave us an interesting and informative review of the foot care services she provides. Numerous members asked questions and expressed interest.
As a closing thought, I bring to members’ attention that only 10 members replied to Hannah that they would attend this meeting, yet 18 of us showed up! The situation presented a challenge to the staff at Jonathan’s. It is important that we dutifully reply to Hannah if we plan to attend.
