The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Weekly meeting recap of Friday, August 24, 2018

It was a beautiful morning for kite-making. After the Pledge of Allegiance and the Four-Way Test, Bob led us in a prayer for the healthy recovery of Wells resident Cameren Cousins. The recent Wells High School graduate began treatment to combat Stage 4 AE Hodgskins Lymphoma. For details, click here.

Erin posted a dollar to offer praise for Cam Cousins, his parents and his siblings. George explained that his son, Paul, and granddaughter, Sophia, visited recently from Japan. Sophia enjoyed shopping in New York City. George also reported that his elderly cousin in Connecticut was taken advantage of financially. George suggests that we arrange for an expert to address our club on the topic of elder abuse. Pete explored this problem further in telling us of two such problems that had plagued members of his family. Clynk-man Pete happily informed us the account has reached $284.30. Bob told us he enjoyed coaching his granddaughter as she prepared to be Pirate #3 in a performance at Ogunquit Playhouse Children’s Theatre Camp. Tracy had a happy five today! Niece Caroline has four jobs including working for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and as coaching drama at Kennebunk High School. Niece Chloe is headed back to college. Nephew Caleb is branching out in his food tastes and fashion interests. Tracy is grateful for Pete’s kite construction efforts in advance of today’s activity.

Yours truly held the magic 50/50 ticket. The Two of Diamonds and the Two of Hearts didn’t cut it. Seems sorta “two bad!” The pot stands at $18.

We finished all the kites today in preparation for the September 8 Capriccio Festival of Kites. As we toiled, we had a spirited and productive discussion about ways to improve our club. You’ll probably hear more about this in the near future.

Reminder: Retirement Celebration Tea honoring Mary Littlefield today at the Ogunquit Memorial Library from 4 to 6 pm.

Next week’s speaker will be Sarah Potter, Director of the Ogunquit Chamber of Commerce.

Until then, be well and do good.
