The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Overview of Friday, April 2, 2021
If you weren’t logged on today, you missed a very special “Four score and 7th” birthday celebration!  We learned of another reason to celebrate; Big Daddy’s will open for the season in two weeks. Tracy’s camera shop is opening this weekend and she is finally free of the arm-sling she had been burdened with since her shoulder surgery. Dr. Joe, Melanie and Elizabeth Ford have, or soon will, enjoy family visits as Covid restrictions ease.

We had two visitors: Joan Monteith, of Bangor Bank in Ogunquit, and Stacy Rodenberger, our speaker for the day. Joan is interested in learning more about our club. She is somewhat familiar with Rotary as her daughter was a RYLA participant is now is a RYLA instructor.  Stacy is with the Maine Credit Union League; she explored the topic of Resiliency with us. Resiliency is enhanced in a variety of ways like dismissing less important concerns, facing up to significant challenges, and accepting change.  Both maintaining solid connections with others and being open to learning new things are important to all of us. Dr. Joe told Ms. Rodenberger that the club will donate a book in her honor to the Ogunquit Memorial Library. She was thrilled because she has fond memories of visiting the library in her youth.

Susan, Elizabeth Ford and Pete transported six carloads of food from the Chamber and WOCAM to the food pantry at St. Mary’s. The beach cleanup is scheduled for 10 AM to noon on Saturday, April 24. Note also that Parks and Rec is hosting a kite-fly for kids that same day from noon to 2 PM. Wells Rotary invites us to join them in a cleaning of veterans’ stones at Ocean View Cemetary on Saturday, May 1.  Our club will have a “star party” this month to cut more stars to support the “honor a patriot” effort. Contact Elizabeth Ford or Elizabeth Cutler for more information.
