Folks were happy because of increasing opportunities to meet with friends and because summery weather is cheering all of us up. After providing the invocation, Melanie spoke of recently staying at her new camp on Square Pond in Shapleigh. Pete reported $542.20 in Clynk funds. Dr. Joe was able to meet up with his friend from the Maine Humanities Council.
Good news… Jonathan West has offered to provide $500 toward the grand prize in our 2 Cents Sale Raffle matching the donations by Melanie for Red Door Title and Gail for Aland Realty. In addition to the $1,500 grand prize, Heath will offer stays at The Nellie Littlefield and at Moon Over Maine. Tickets in the raffle will cost $10; members are asked to sell at least ten tickets each. The drawing likely will take place on the day of the kite festival, September 11.
In other news, Dr. Joe sent three bookplates to David Weare at the Ogunquit Memorial Library. The bookplates bear the names of the three people who served most recently as speakers at our Friday meetings.
As you can see in the video recording of this meeting, nearly all members replied to the survey concerning meeting day and time. In summary, respondents favor a noon-time meeting on Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. The board will hold a special meeting this Thursday, May 27, at 5:00 to discuss the club’s meeting day. Per club policy, all members are welcome to join in on that Zoom meeting.
