We had three visitors today. Ogunquit Police Chief John Lizanecz; Rev. Dr. Brian Shore, pastor of Ogunquit Baptist Church and Jim Eshleman, retired primary care physician.
With great regret I reported the passing of David Banks of Wells who visited us over the years in his role as Santa Claus at our annual holiday season luncheon at Jonathan’s. I expressed sincere gratitude for having known David and for the great joy he always brought to our club and to the Ogunquit seniors and the Wells Junior High 5th graders.
After a tasty Mardi Gras themed lunch numerous members spoke of the joyful Day of Warming last Saturday at the Wells-Ogunquit senior center. Alice is hopeful of getting Springsteen tickets. Elizabeth noted two women at the Day of Warming were tearfully overjoyed. Elizabeth is pleased in a tongue-in cheek way that she can stay at home and viciously enjoy the travels of other club members. Chief Lizanecz is very happy over the partnership between the department and our club that keeps the sand-bucket program going. Erin’s daughter is coming home next weekend. Ed Smith echoed Chief Lizanecz’s view that Ogunquit is a great place in which to reside. Ed also noted the tragic loss of life in the avalanche in Colorado. Susan was feeling uplifted by everyone else’s happiness. Dr. Joe talked about the pleasure he and Vickie get from their kittens. Nancy was delighted over having experinced the Day of Warming for the first time. Pete again provided the CLYNK report.
Today we go above freezing!
Tomorrow we get a few flakes
Watch it happen and do a CLYNK bag
What a difference a day makes!
So now we have $464.00 available.
Pastor Shore held the winning ticket but drew the 7 of spades and king of spades.
Rick noted that the club approved money for the Uganda grant and funds to provide support for Mak, the member of the Biddeford-Saco Rotary club sho had been detained by ICE agents.
Erin reported that the club purchased 48 buckets for the Ogunquit Police Departments sand bucket program. (Photo below.)
Alice and Brenda provided an update on the creation of a community grant program to support projects addressing food insecurity, mental wellness or the environment.
