Richard thanked Tracy for the “wonderful banana bread… the best ever.” He also thanked the club for all the support in recent years saying, “This is a wonderful club and I enjoy everyone in it.” Pete offered up this ditty… “In all the things we say and do and think, remember to fill a bag for Clynk.” The account stands at $206.60. Tracy thanked Gail and Melanie for sponsoring the grand prize in the 2 Cents Sale raffle. She also thanked Bob for going to Hollis to get Poland Springs water. George’s house is on the market; he says Rotarians will enjoy martinis at the estate sale! Elizabeth Ford introduced our speaker, Laurie Southwick, the director of grants and special events for the Susan Curtis Foundation. The Foundation honors the memory of Susan Curtis, the daughter of former Maine Governor Kenneth Curtis, who occupied Blaine House from 1967 to 1975.
Camp Susan Curtis, situated in Stoneham, Maine, offers two-week camp experiences to economically underprivileged Maine youth in grades 4 through 12. Having all the usual summer camp activities, it aims to build “friendship skills” that will help campers become independent contributing citizens. The camp serves 450-500 young people from Maine including 50-60 kids from York County.
Our Changeover Dinner is Thursday, June 20, at 5:30 at the Beachmere.
