As the meeting was getting started several folks offered congratulations to Heath on his successful results in Tuesday’s election. Ali Fitting of KeyBank, who is interested in learning about Rotary and our club, again joined us.
Susan led off happy dollars in mentioning a new district initiative, “New Member Ambassadors” who can serve as mentors to, you guessed it, new members! George is delighted that the travel restrictions at Riverview have been relaxed somewhat so that, in his words, he now can ”drink wine in a field!” Nancy’s dad has moved from New Jersey to Wells; he would be happy to hit a bucket of balls with anyone interested. Bob and Cheryl bumped into Erin and her cousins on their staycation in Ogunquit. Dr. Joe was glad to see that George is still alive; George has not replied to Joe’s emails lately. Melanie noted that Tracy’s nephew loves working at Big Daddy’s. Melanie confided that she is subtly recruiting her soon-to-retire husband as a potential new Ogunquit Rotarian. Susan’s 8-year old granddaughter’s health is improving as she is being treated for Lime Disease. Pete reported that we have $236.05 in Clynk earnings.
In other business, Susan expects the Facebook 2-Cent Sale committee to meet this coming week. Heath and Melanie expressed interest in working with Erin and Tracy on that initiative. Members will be impressed to learn that Elizabeth Ford has crafted more than 1,000 facemasks; her efforts have resulted in $380 being donated to the club! Elizabeth is our leading fundraiser! Heath is going to call attention to her work on the club’s Facebook page.
Our club’s next regular meeting on Zoom will be at 12:00 noon on Friday, August 7. I forgot to notify Larry Marsolais of the meeting yesterday… perhaps someone will remind me to do that when the August 7 invitation comes out?
