On this first day of summer, we greeted three guests: Dr. Joe’s wife, Vickie Russell; Richard’s granddaughter, Jyoti Goodwin-Jones; and Susan DeQuattro of Aland Realty.
Ed Smith reported that his wife, Julie, is “150% better” following a fall she took earlier this week. Thinking of the tasty lunches provided at Bintliff’s, Ed remembered being served hot dogs and beans (and jello) when the club convened at the Inn Crowd earlier in its history. And that was on the day of the district governor’s annual visit! Connie paid a late fine for today and, then, pre-paid to be late the next time! Gail was dinged for lack of a badge. Melanie lauded John, Lisa, and George for the song-and-dance skit at the Changeover. George welcomed Susan DeQuattro, thanked Connie for the social last Saturday, and thanked the “exotic dancers.” Pete applauded the Changeover entertainment. In reporting a balance of $113, he issued this message, “If you ever take another drink, be certain to remember Clynk!” Richard was grateful for Jyoti’s presence at the meeting. Tracy thanked Nancy for the 2 Cent Sale posters. She also expressed appreciation for our Rotary family. Happy that Vickie was with him, Joe was pleased to see Jyoti. As our Foundation Chair, Joe noted that our club now has twelve Paul Harris Fellows. He hopes that eventually all our members will bear that distinction. He encouraged everyone to contribute some amount to the Rotary Foundation by June 30. Ed Seppa thanked Bob for his summer-2018 presidential service and for his upcoming summer-2019 service as well.
Once again, Tracy held the winning ticket. However, $97 slipped away as she drew the 2 of Spades and the 7 of Hearts! So sad!
Presiding at her last meeting in this stint as president, Erin reported that local realtor Jen Walker made a donation in honor of Mary Littlefield. Then Erin announced a big surprise… we were inducting Jyoti Goodwin-Jones as a new member of our club! Richard was speechless. Welcome, Jyoti!
Erin then turned the floor over to Richard, our speaker for the day, who read segments of the 1978 report of the Ogunquit Village Corporation. Most of us learned many interesting details. Thank you, Richard.
Our next meeting will be on Friday, July 5, at Bintliff’s as usual.
