The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Weekly meeting recap of Friday, October 19, 2018
Ed Smith brought in a big, beautiful pumpkin from his field. He and Julie enjoyed their anniversary weekend in Bar Harbor. He is not happy to be trapping flying squirrels at the rate of one a day! He is happy and honored to be serving as interim fire chief.

Ed Seppa thanked Bob for his tenure as president. He also offered a virtual tip of his Yankees cap to the record-breaking Red Sox. Not surprisingly, Tracy is happy about the “awesome” Red Sox. Tracy was please to receive a letter and banner from the president of the Cacak, Serbia Rotary Club. The president’s nephew visited Ogunquit and met up with Tracy. Elizabeth Ford was happy to have made it to the meeting. Pete congratulated Erin on the creation of the new self-standing club banner bearing an image of the newest beach wheelchair. The Clynk account holds $138.95, the equivalent of 99 lobstah pots. Bob said he has enjoyed his four months as president. Tracy thanked Bob and Ed Smith for the nice presentation of the wheelchair at the selectboard meeting. Erin is happy that Lexi is home on leave. She reported that Joe Boyle sent some tickets to a Biddeford-Saco beer tasting. Bob will attend. York County Habitat for Humanity invites us to their celebration at Village by the Sea on Thursday, October 25, from 5 to 7.

With $47 in the pot, Tracy drew the 3 of Clubs and the 6 of Diamonds. No cigar!

President Bob thanked Erin for the behind-the-scenes work in obtaining the latest wheelchair and the banner. The town has shown an impressive level of gratitude for Ed Smith’s willingness to fill in as fire chief.

On the matter of meeting time and place, Carol made a formal motion to meet for lunch at Bintliff’s the first and third Friday of each month starting December 7. Lunch will cost $18. Members will be billed quarterly in advance for lunch. Kerry Ellen seconded. Nine members voted in favor and one abstained. Kerry Ellen also volunteered to collect “rsvp” numbers the Thursday before each meeting to be forwarded to Norm at Bintliff’s.

The board members present at this meeting decided that board meetings will be held immediately before each monthly social on the second Thursday of the month.
