The Rotary Club of
Ogunquit

Meeting recap of Friday, February 1, 2019
John was busted for not having his badge. Ray, George, Pete, Richard and Ed Seppa were fined for occupying an all-men table. The ladies at the all-ladies table smiled their way out of a similar fine! Ed Smith deposited a celebrity dollar; Channel 8 news interviewed him on the topic of winter weather emergency services.  George handed over three happy dollars: Pete has a TV, John and George will head to Colombia in March to investigate the possibility of another international project, and there is a musical benefit Monday evening at the United Methodist Church. Pete spotted a small herd of deer in his yahd; he also reported 102.45 Clynk dollars. Ed Seppa saw a bald eagle flying off the marsh in Wells. Richard thanked George and Kerry for the lunches he and Mary received from the last Rotary meeting. Nancy apologized for not noticing the rest of us had relocated to the “north wing” of Bintliff’s.  Tracy is optimistic about the Pats and is happy to know what a football square is. Joe and Vickie celebrated their 17th anniversary of wedded bliss. Mary was impressed that the man who clears their driveway wanted his payment to be paid forward to Coast Guard shutdown relief. Erin too is rooting for the Pats and she thanked Tracy for the US Navy windsock. She has booked a trip to visit Casi in Kings Bay, Georgia.

As she so often does, Carol held the winning ticket. She drew the Queen of Hearts and the 4 of Diamonds. The pot stands at $23.

Erin reminded us of the social at the chamber this Thursday; please let her know if you will attend. Next Saturday at 11:00 we’ll host the Day of Warming at WOCAM (the Senior Center).  Kathy Chase, June Messier and Kendra Fowler of WOCAM will be our speakers on February 15.

Erin introduced the “two Elizabeths” to make their classification talks.

Elizabeth Cutler works in event management but not in the “party planner” sense that usually comes to mind. Rather, her focus is on the strategy aspect of an event. She has done a lot of work with the American Gaming Society and also has her own company in which artificial intelligence is utilized to advance drug discovery and development. She thinks there is great hope for the future in this area. During her career Elizabeth has had the good fortune to meet Nelson Mandela, Maya Angelou, Neil Armstrong and, last but not least, Bill Belichick! She is proud that her work “helps bring people together.”

Elizabeth Ford views her life via two careers – as a business manager and owner and as the mother of three daughters and five grandchildren. She is from Clinton, Massachusetts, a community of many first generation Americans as is she. Her daughters were born in the 60s, 70 and 80s. Elizabeth’s business experience was in electronics equipment manufacturing.

Until next time, “Be the Inspiration” and enjoy the nachos!
