We are a club of nearly 30 members. By my count, 9 of us showed up on Zoom today as we attempt to maintain spirits and plow forward in these discouraging times. I think Susan deserves our thanks for bringing much positive energy and enthusiasm to our meetings.
Let’s review the happy dollars. Melanie has reason to be pleased with the good first week of business at Big Daddy’s in Ogunquit. Elizabeth Ford is encouraged by the prevalence of mask-wearing and polite behavior by summer visitors in her neighborhood. Dr. Joe and Vickie have completed the task of pre-painting siding boards to be used to re-side one wall of their home. (They do one side of the house each year.) Joe and Vickie have taken 4 day-trips to different locales of the fine state we call home; this week they traveled from Augusta to The Forks. Ed and Carol Seppa day-tripped to Spruce Head Island and the Marshall Point Light in Saint George, Maine. Jyoti speaks with Richard every couple of days; he’s living large with the Volvo convertible back on the road for the summer! The framed picture and plaque in memory of Mary soon will be installed in the Ogunquit Memorial Library.
Here’s Pete’s Clynk Report…
The largest amount we ever had,
Is now in our account--and I'm glad
To report our best-yet event:
Two Hundred Sixty-seven dollars and sixty cents
In club news, Susan reported that the global grant applied for by the Barranquilla Oriente club in Colombia has been approved; our club contributed in excess of $1,000 toward that $40,000 grant to provide PPE to four hospitals.
In the discussion of the 2 Cents Sale Raffle, several members expressed a desire to have paper tickets for sale along with the online tickets planned for the website and Facebook. Susan pointed out that the York Rotary club car-raffle includes online and in-person sales; Ed asked Susan to get logistical details.
The next board meeting will be on Zoom on Thursday, August 13, at 10 AM. The entire club will be invited to Zoom again at noon on Friday, August 14.
