The Ogunquit Rotary Club and The Front Porch teamed up to bring fellowship and hot meals to the Wells-Ogunquit Senior Center.
Nothing warms a chilly snowy February day like a hot midday meal, and the Ogunquit Rotary Club & The Front Porch joined forces to do just that on Saturday, February 6. The Center hosts Days of Warming each Saturday from early January through mid-March. The Ogunquit Rotary Club has sponsored the first Saturday of February for several years, working with various local restaurants to pick up and serve the midday hot meal. This year looked a bit different due to COVID-19 restrictions, but based on the Center’s request, 50 meals were made and served on premise, or delivered by Senior Center staff and volunteers to seniors unable to attend in person.

The Front Porch covered 100% of the food cost and packed up 50 meals to go to support the Ogunquit Rotary Club’s fundraising going back to the community, and the Rotary Club picked up the food, delivered it to the Senior Center, served guests and added homemade Valentine’s Day cupcakes and water to the menu.
Long-time Ogunquit Rotary member Joe Boyle has served at the event for years and commented on why he so enjoys it. “It brings us together as fellows and pulls us together as helpers in our community. I have especially enjoyed serving many members of the community with whom I might otherwise not have gotten to know.”
“Since taking over The Front Porch, our commitment to the community has been at the forefront of our mission. During an unprecedented year like this, organizations like Rotary and the Wells/Ogunquit Senior Center need our support more than ever. My team and I look forward to continuing our philanthropic support for this amazing community,” commented Scott Vogel, owner/president of The Front Porch.

Susan DeQuattro, president of the Ogunquit Rotary Club applauded the partnership. "Thank you, thank you, for the most generous support by The Front Porch for our event at the Wells/Ogunquit Senior Center Day of Warming. The Rotary Club of Ogunquit is very appreciative of the opportunity to provide this meal to the seniors along with the sponsorship of Scott Vogel and his team at The Front Porch."
