Two visitors experienced the value of a beach wheelchair on a recent visit.
The Ogunquit Rotary Club was very pleased by a note we received from Lynnell Reed-Powell of Worcester, Massachusetts. Recently, Ms. Reed-Powell brought her 95-year-old mother, the Reverend Dr. Catherine Reed to Ogunquit to see the ocean. They were excited to learn that they could borrow a beach wheelchair from the lifeguards. Ms. Reed-Powell maneuvered it to the water’s edge and her mother enjoyed the splendor and power of the ocean up close. When it was time to leave, the uphill ramp proved to be quite challenging. In Ms. Reed-Powell’s words, “That’s when God sent John Clancy to the rescue. He pushed and maneuvered my mom up the ramp and charmed her with conversation the entire way. John told us about the Rotary Club’s work and its part in acquiring beach wheelchairs. I just want to say, ‘Thank You’ to John and the Ogunquit Rotary Club”. (John Clancy is a longtime member of the Ogunquit Rotary Club.)
Incidentally, the Reverend Dr. Catherine Reed is a retired Protestant Chaplain of The College of The Holy Cross and a published author. https://worcestercountypoetry.org/catherine-reed/
